It’s been great to meet, connect and work with you as one of our #TEAMTALLGUIDES contributors. Your passion for fashion, home décor and travel shines through but there are other strings to your bow – like the fact you sing beautifully! So today, we want to shine a spotlight on your vocal talent. As an accomplished singer / songwriter, we’d love to share some of your story (and your songs!) with our readers.

Q1. Rumour has it that you were singing before you were speaking. Can you tell us more about the role music and singing played in your younger years?

A1. According to my mum when we used to go out in the car I would sing about anything I could see – ‘there’s a tree’, ‘it’s a red car’ and so on! I went to a performing arts company from a very young age and singing was always the part I enjoyed most. Being on a stage, with a big audience was where I felt most at home. It gave me such an amazing feeling. I suppose its the same for anyone when they find that thing that makes them feel alive!

Q2. For our readers who have never heard your music, can you explain your sound in 5 words:

A2. True, soulful, clear, bright, meaningful.

Q3. You’ve been part of the backing choir on the XFactor and Asia’s Got Talent as well as starring in Sam Smiths video; Stay With Me – what does the dream look like for you and where would you like to take your music career?

A3. I feel I have achieved a lot and being able to do it with something I enjoy so much is a blessing! I know that I want to continue to write music. One of the things I was never that keen on was YouTube, which I know may sound silly, but I am my own worse critic.

But… singing is what I love the most and since living in Singapore I’ve had more time on my hands so I thought; why not so I have started posting covers of the songs I love. If I can continue to sing and find a way to share it with the world, I am happy!

Q4. You’ve performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London which has incredible acoustics. If you could sing or perform at any venue in the world, where would it be?

A4. The Sydney Opera House would be amazing!

Q5. You write your own music as well, what was it that made you start writing?

A5. I think as I have got older I have experienced a mixture of emotions and had so many different experiences. After I had been at ICMP (The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) for a year, I had developed the confidence to write down my stories/experience and turn them into songs. The most incredible feeling was the first time I wrote a song and sung it. It is liberating and such a personal journey, plus once you put it out there everyone else can then take their own meanings from it.

Q6. Who and what are your main inspirations and greatest musical influences?

A6. I love to listen to a wide variety of music from Motown to Dance! Adele and Will Young are two of my favourites (but I have so many) as I feel they both deliver such soulful vocals. Goosebumps at the ready!

Q7. What is it like being a woman in the music industry and is your height a positive factor?

A7. I would say that when I have been working solo, it wasn’t ever a problem for me. But in choirs I was always put at the back as I am tall – unless I was to sing a solo. This said, I have never experienced any negativity that has made me wish I was smaller!

Q8. You’re from the UK but currently living, singing and songwriting in Singapore. What took you out to Asia and are you planning on staying?

A8. We came out here for my husband’s job and have been here for 2 years now – what a start to our married life! We will definitely be moving back to the UK in the near future as we have an amazingly close family and I’m looking forward to all that our next adventure will bring…

Q9. You have a single out on iTunes – where can we find it and do you have plans to release another?

A9. You can find it by clicking here and I would love to release another one for sure. Watch this space!

Q10. In ONE word, how would you describe yourself?

A10. Loyal
