Although I’ve worked with several luxury fashion brands and an internationally acclaimed design doyenne or two, I’ve never been that put together ‘fashion girl‘. You know, the one who is always one step ahead of the latest trend and changing her look more often than I change my bedding (which, by the way, is weekly).
My passion is for business and brand building and most of my life has been spent working, creating and wearing black. I may not be a fashion girl but definitely have my own style and love outfits that ooze elegance and simplicity with just a hint of bohemian eccentricity. I’m an entrepreneur, a maverick and a creative whirlwind. It’s important that my my outfits move with me, keep up with me and don’t let me down after a couple of wears!
You won’t often find my words or my style gracing the fashion pages of TALL GUIDES but seeing as it’s Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share some of things I love right now. Let’s start at the top with a massive pair of sunnies from one of my favourite eyewear brands!
Rarely seen without them, a huge pair of sunglasses is a must for me and this pair of Cutler & Gross ones certainly don’t miss the mark.
“If you buy a handcrafted pair of glasses or sunglasses, you want to see the tiny inaccuracies, the straight, raw edges of the plastic, the pins – they give character, make them unique to the wearer. The Cutler and Gross customer has always been an individual. Eccentric maybe, but a rare breed, certainly.” – Graham Cutler
Founded in 1969, British luxury eyewear brand Cutler and Gross combines the finest Italian craftsmanship with irrefutably cool style. Since its establishment in fashion’s halcyon days, the brand’s signature creativity has been applied to sunglasses and optical frames with their trademark numbered designs and absence of an ostentatious logo. Cutler and Gross has always been a brand whispered and passed on through the ranks of artists, architects and designers. For decades, Graham Cutler and Tony Gross’s frames relied, in part, upon their reputation being dripped and whispered within style and fashion circles like verbal quicksilver. If you knew about Cutler and Gross, you knew about style; simply knowing your Cutler and Gross frames has always done wonders for one’s fashion aura – just ask Kate Moss.
This contrast pocket dress from Tall Order Clothing ticks all of the boxes. Throw it on, whip up a messy bun, add sunglasses and dash out the door! Look fabulously put together all day long. Because it’s black, you can take it straight out for the evening when you’re finished in the office too!
A classic that will stand the test of time, this dress is made from satin backed crepe. Slightly fitted with jacquard contrast pocket detail on the hips. It has super long sleeves with a slit on the outside seam and according to the reviews, really deep pockets. *slight squeals of excitement at finding style, quality and practicality for under £40! The dress has a bit of stretch and it’s fully lined so it doesn’t cling where it’s not wanted! You can wash it in the machine too. Again, this no fuss approach to fashion ticks a lot of boxes for me.
3. The Elegant Silhouette
This off the shoulder, asymmetrical top from MARGE is nothing short of perfection! I love a defined silhouette and GISELE does not disappoint! Perfectly proportioned to flatter the taller frame, this top is available in four colorways.
Founded in 2014 by Kaersten Cooper, MARGE is the first luxury clothing and accessories brand exclusively designed for the tall, stylish, modern woman. The brand combines real-life luxury with timeless designs, elegance and wearability. If you’re looking for an investment piece (or three), MARGE has got it covered.
The Dream Skinny Jeans from Tallgirls (also available in straight leg) are one of my wardrobe staples. They come in a 34, 36 & 38 leg and are one of THE most flattering jeans I’ve ever worn.
Sadly, the black pair and I fell out (after a fading issue) but my dark indigo ones often accompany me around town. They can easily be dressed up or down. So whether I’ve paired them with Michael Kors heels and a blazer or slung on a pair of wellies and headed off into the fields with my dog, they keep me looking sharp and have stood the test of time!
I’m looking forward to summer when I can get back into my light wash pairs as well. A tall girl can never have enough flattering pairs of jeans in her wardrobe! #fact
I love to waft and this gorgeous True Decadence maxi dress looks like it’s got waft-ability written all over it! The model is just under 5’10 and I’m 6’2 but I’m sure I could pull it off. I love the shoulders, the ruffles, the neckline and the colour. Valentine’s day is looking like it might be an ‘add to cart’ kinda day in London!
True Decadence are a trend-led label, who take their influences straight from the catwalk. True Decadence Tall, available from ASOS, delivers the same fashion obsessed collection as their mainline – maxi dresses and cami tops – proportioned to fit those 5’9.5”/1.75m and over
I hope you’ve enjoyed this rare peek into my style choices. I’d love to know what fashion choices you’re loving this Valentines Day – let me know in the comments below.
