1. Make Friends With Colours Again

Yes, I know, black makes anyone look slimmer, but an all-black wardrobe isn’t doing you any favours. That’s because, as we get older, our skin tends to become paler. Wearing black can create a contrast that highlights wrinkles and draws attention to those dark circles under the eyes.

Still, many women stay away from wearing colour once they reach a certain age, mainly because they are afraid of looking ridiculous. But when used correctly, colour can help you create a fresh look that shows off your personality.

So be brave and give these ideas a shot:

Bright accessories can be incorporated into almost any outfit. A coloured scarf, a statement brooch or necklace, or a colourful handbag can be that pop of colour you need for a modern look.

Nail polish. When was the last time you painted your nails bright-red? Nudes and sheer colours bring attention to your hands, rather than your nails, and may emphasise problem areas.

Metallic colours can be used for an edgy look. If the thought of bright colours scares you, go for cool silvers or rich golds to create a trendy look.

Knitted clothes. Say Goodbye to clothes that cling! They might be comfortable, but they sure don’t belong in the ‘How To Look 10 Years Younger’ category. Clothes that fit tightly to your body reveal all your little imperfections and your underwear. This look makes it seem like you’ve stopped trying. Go for knitted clothes instead. They will help you build better outfits that are more stylish – without compromising comfort.

2. Show Your Body

Hiding your body is the extreme opposite of wearing clinging clothes. Wearing shapeless clothing or hiding under multiple layers of clothes is a sure way to look heavier.

Accentuate the most flattering parts of your figure by wearing:

Belts that accentuate your waist

High-waisted items

Well-cut jackets that nip in at the waist

A Peter Pan collar (a flat collar with rounded points) will make your neck appear longer

Spool Heels (A spool heel is wide at the top and bottom and narrower in the middle, so resembling a cotton reel or an hourglass)

3. Add Sporty Elements To Your Outfits

They will definitely refresh your look. Sporty clothes and accessories have become a fashion must have. I’m not talking about the complete Sunday look.  One single item is enough and the aim of contract is to create interest whilst remaining elegant. Try;

A pair of trainers

A printed sweatshirt looks beautiful with a classic suit.
